CONSERVATION COMMISSION
Town of Monterey, Massachusetts

                                                                        
MEETING DATE: July 11, 2005

Present: Chris Blair, David Logan, Rick Andrus, David Dempsey, Tim Lovitt

The meeting convened at 6:00 p.m.

6:10 – 6:45 Enforcement Order, Lombardo Group – Mt Hunger Rd Map 9 Lot 52 (portion of) Stream Destruction
Enforcement order is missing from file.  Applicants made a proposal submitted by Webster-Ingersoll, of a no-new plant method to fix damage done.  Pictures were shown of upper area where ruts were made and soil was disturbed but natural water flow is not affected.  Pictures also shown of lower logged area.  The Commission thought new plant matter should be introduced to speed the growth of existing plant life (planting to be started in Fall).  Prior to planting there is to be a 1st pass of reshaping and removing impediments from stream flow and stabilizing the area. (to be completed by growing season)  Site visit scheduled for August 2nd at 8:30am to review progress.

6:50 – 7:15 Public Hearing, Ahye, Scenic Mtn NOI, 656 Main Rd
Shannon Boomsma, White Engineering appeared to review plans, made suggestion to replace 12 trees of the 30 or so they will be taking down (see letter provided).  Project is in the mapped region.  The Commission approves plan as submitted with order of conditions.  Trees cut out from their view by neighbor M. Bodin before Monterey Scenic Mountain Act adoption date.  Construction to begin in 2005. Sq. footage of house and cleared land that’s not part of the driveway or house to be provided.  Hearing closed at 6:55pm

7:15 – 7:30 Public Hearing, Shifrin, WPA NOI – 52 Sylvan Rd
Shannon Boomsma, White Engineering appeared with plans to demolish existing house leaving the stone chimney and erecting a new house.  New well to be located on corner of wetland, area surrounding will be restored.  Condition #1 is that the slurry pit needs to be removed and disposed of offsite, the pit filled, seeded & mulched.
